History of Miniature Golf

From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miniature_golf

The origins of miniature golf date back to the late 1860's in Scotland where a short putting course was built for women, who at the time, were not socially accepted onto regular golf courses. The first standardized minigolf courses to enter commercial mass-production were the 1916 Thistle Dhu ("This'll Do") course in Pinehurst, North Carolina, and the 1927 Tom Thumb patent of Garnet Carter from Lookout Mountain, Tennessee. By the late 1920's there were more than 150 rooftop courses in New York City alone, and tens of thousands across the United States.

History of Sir Goony’s

The first Sir Goony’s was built in 1961 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. There were eventually more than 40 franchise Sir Goony’s across the nation. In 1987, our Sir Goony’s was completed and opened with two courses, the Goony Golf and the Championship Course. We have owned and operated the Sir Goony’s of Knoxville since 1997.

Intro for Miniature Golf: At Sir Goony’s you can choose from two different miniature golf courses. Both are 18 holes, par 42, and filled with fun, challenging putting. The Goony Golf features the big orange dinosaur, the up-side-down bear and the castle. The Championship Course is a bit harder to score on due to penalty cups and bonus cups, and includes the pirate ship and large waterfall. Play both for a special price.

Intro for Go-Karts: Jump into a Go-Kart and zoom across our 800' track! Our Go-Kart track is open to drivers at least 58" tall, and passengers of at least three years old. Please be advised that passengers can only be driven by those at least16 years of age.

Intro for Paintball: Sir Goony’s Paintball is a fast-paced speedball course. We have air bunkers, rental equipment, and a netted viewing area for friends and family. We hold leagues and tournaments seasonally.

Intro for Birthday parties: At Sir Goony’s you can enjoy a fun-filled birthday party and we’ll provide the place and the clean-up. If our preset birthday parties don’t accommodate your group, please call and ask a manager to personalize a party for you.
